FAMILY AND CAREER
Are like North Pole And
South Pole
When people say family is most
important, it doesn’t have to mean work is less important, it can just mean:
“work has helped me make who I am & I enjoy sharing that with the ones I
love.”
Family, as well as
career, is an integral part of our life. Neither family, nor career can be
separated from each other, but they can’t be mingled together either. Both
family & career have their own importance. Coming on to family, we can
undoubtedly say that family is the most precious gem, we are gifted with. It
means a lot to everyone. In fact, family is the most important unit of society.
It is the single most important influence in a child’s life. We are never born
good, it’s our family that inhibits all the good in us. From our very 1st
moment, we depend on our family for all our needs. All the moral values and
spiritual & cultural heritage of society are passed on through family. It’s
all the love, affection & utter care that shapes the future of a child.
Family is the place where communion is brought about & love towards each
person is recognized, accepted & respected. It is the 1st
learning place of an individual in this world. Whenever we are in trouble, we
seek help from family & our family is always there for us. We might change
our friends later in our life but we never want to lose our family members.
Mutual affection, trust & distribution of responsibilities in the family
are the things that strengthen this relationship.
Moving on to career,
we can say that is a long term productive occupation that culminates in a
central purpose in life. It is something that motivates us to face challenges
& grave out success from deep mines of difficulties. Careers vary greatly
in the type of work involved & in the ways they influence a person’s life.
Everyone has a career of some kind. Most people build a career to help them
satisfy certain goals. A person without having a career aspiration is just like
garbage of society which is of no importance. There’s no meaning of life
without a will of building career. The kind of career which we choose affects
our life in many different ways. By making wise decisions regarding our career,
we can easily accomplish the kind of life we want. Achieving our career goals
gives us immense satisfaction & success. We are our self-responsible for
exploring our career field by determining our aptitude, interests, personal
characteristics & values. It is something that shapes our future &
leads us towards the doorstep of happiness, satisfaction & fame.
However, both family & career play a crucial role in
one’s life. There is a very thin, blurry line in between family & career,
i.e., personal & professional life. So, it’s very necessary to maintain a
proper balance in between family & career, so that equity can be attained.
One shouldn’t be inclined towards either family or career totally. Both should
be given equal weightage.
Apart from all this, it’s very necessary that we don’t mix
up our career with our family, we can’t sacrifice one at another’s cost. But
the bitter truth is that, family as wonderful as they are, can’t achieve us
that deep sense of achievement. No matter how awesome your kids, spouse,
parents & loved ones become because of your sacrifice & help, you can
never claim their achievements for yourself. The reason is that, people have
free will. And there’s no meaning sacrifice your life for the sake of your
loves ones. It’s because, if you are an unsuccessful person, even your closed
ones start maintaining distance with you & you yourself will feel
humiliated & getting apart from everything.
It’s is also true that family & career roles are
interrelated. Family is essential element of our life but it isn’t sufficient
enough to bring complete happiness. It’s very necessary to make wise decisions
concerning career & then focus on it to attain desired satisfaction & happiness.
Both family & career run in a mutual correspondence but they are
independent too. That’s why family & career should be treated like North
Pole & South Pole, which means that they should not be mingled together,
but keeping in mind that they can’t be isolated totally either. Work should be
confined to work-place & family time shouldn’t be altered.
Overall, your career is definitely more important than
anything. Since, we have a base for the coming life, we have to pay proper
attention at our career first. If our foundation will not be strong then it’s
sure that we’ll face several hurdles & it’ll become quite difficult to
overcome these hurdles. But once we build our career successfully, there is
practically no hurdle that can stop our way & only then we’ll be able to
make our family happy.
Finally, we reach to the conclusion that we don’t really
have to choose, we just have to manage, both family & career which have to
co-exist. This leads to a healthy balanced life & if we manage it well, we
can sail out through any difficulty and cope up from all sort of problems
without compromising on our future life.
